Bollywood Superstars

Bollywood Superstars over 100 years of Cinema

1913 was the year when the great Dada Saheb Phalke introduced the first ever silent feature film Raja Harishchandra which was followed by Alam Ara, India's first sound feature film. However, all this progression was slowed down during the independence war and was kicked off since 40s and 60s.Then came the 'golden era' of superstars, stardom, and glamour. Though Bollywood has gifted few unforgettable stars but there are few, who have carved a niche in Bollywood as Superstars to the extent that audiences tagged them with their persisting success. Here we go with our legendary superstars.

Raj Kapoor: Jeena Yahan Marna Yahan..Iske Seva jaana kahan are the words which defines Raj Kapoor. Great performances in cult films like Shree 420, Awaara, Aag, Mera Naam Joker tagged him as 'The show man of the millennium'.

Dilip Kumar- The living legend Dilip Kumar who is considered as a 'Bollywood thespian' indeed is a fortuitous that when the Hindi cinema is celebrating the 100th year of its existence, the thespian also celebrated 90 years of his age recently. He is considered thespian as he was part of the cinema since 1944 and also known as a reference point for approaching the craft of acting.

Rajendra Kumar- The film fraternity calls Rajendra Kumar as Jubilee Kumar. During 1960's Rajendra Kumar had become the hottest actor and every film starring him was a silver jubilee hit. There were instances when he had six or seven films running in their silver jubilee weeks at the same time, since then Rajendra Kumar came to be known as 'Jubilee Kumar'.

Rajesh Khanna- Though Rajesh Khanna a synonyms for romance in Cinema has given hits during his era, through Aradhana and few such films he rose to instant national fame and film critics referred to him as the first 'superstar of India'.

Dev Anand  has always been called as the 'evergreen' star for his immortal charm and undying spirit. The legend is also known for being a matinee idol with a Hollywood star persona.

Amitabh Bachchan- Over the years, Amitabh Bachchan has been tagged with various metaphors like Angry young man, Big B, Shehenshah and now after a long years in Bollywood this living legend is considered as a 'star of the millennium'.

Akshay Kumar- With his clean cut good looks and his training in martial arts smoothly made an image of a Khiladi. Being associated with the word Khiladi in his majority of films, Akshay Kumar has been named as Khiladi Kumar.

Shahrukh Khan-Though not being a hero material, SRK is considered as a King Khan of Bollywood all thanks to his YRF's romantic movies. His self made personality is ruling every beat of hearts. His fan following remains intact despite of controversies related to him.

Aamir Khan- One might say  he has grown into a respectable actor and director. Being choosy about what one does in Bollywood is so rare that it has to be noted. Hence is tagged as Mister Perfectionist. He is a real professional and takes his career as a mission.

Salman Khan- One must not forget that the bad boy, who is always surrounded with controversies, has played a star-maker for many in B'town. Katrina Kaif, Mohnish Behl and Arjun Kapoor have all been his proteges at one point of time or another. Hence, this superstar is also considered as a star maker.

Hrithik Roshan-Hrithik Roshan is one such kid with golden luck. His debut film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai took him to another level of fame and stardom. He can be also considered as superstar over a night. His special performances in movies like Koi Mil Gaya and Krissh considers him as Super Hero.

Ranbir Kapoor- Fame has its price! Many might think that being born with a silver spoon is a boon but it actually can set the bar quite high for that person. He debut in Bollywood but didnt received required fame, however with last few years, the actor has appealed to audiences and now it seems, grandchild of Raj Kapoor, need not worry about the fame as his work now speaks for him and will definitely carry forward the legacy of Kapoor.
